Common weight conversions
All of these follow from the fixed definition that one pound equals exactly 0.45359237 kilograms:
1 kg = 2.20462 lb · 1 lb = 453.592 g · 1 lb = 16 oz · 1 oz = 28.3495 g · 1 stone = 14 lb · 1 stone = 6.35029 kg · 1 metric ton = 1,000 kg · 1 metric ton = 2,204.62 lb.
Weight vs. mass
Strictly speaking these units measure mass — the amount of matter in something — while "weight" is the force gravity exerts on that mass. In everyday use the words are interchangeable, and that's how this tool treats them.
Mind the three "tons"
A metric ton (tonne) is 1,000 kg, a US short ton is about 907 kg, and a UK long ton is about 1,016 kg. They are close but not equal, so the label matters when the numbers are large. Convee marks each one clearly.
